The National Biochip Engineering Research Center
(Beijing Capital Biochip Inc.): Biochip represents a novel
platform of technologies for high-throughput analysis of
DNA, mRNA, protein and other biological entities in micro-
or nano- scales. On March 31st of 1997, biochip technology
was featured by FORTUNE magazine as a cover story comparing
its emergency with that of microprocessor chips. " While
microchips have reshaped our economy, spawned vast fortunes
and changed the way we live over the past several decades,
gene chips could be even bigger." Soon after, SCIENCE
magazine identified biochip as one of the 10 breakthrough in
science and technology of the year in 1998. These headlines
heralded a new era in biotechnology. |
